Conservation at Baviaans Lodge is not just confined to preserving the large glamorous species of predators such as our "Cape Mountains Leopard”.
Here we look after even the smallest and seldom seen such as the “Red Finned Minnow". This endangered fish species is found in the mountain streams at the Lodge.
We actively participate in local as well as broader conservation initiatives, assisting with research, conservation corridor projects as well as the rehabilitation of previously farmed lands.
Our conservation work includes the planting of indigenous trees raised in our small nursery at the Lodge, thus helping to preserve the local unique characteristics found in their genes.
